Efforts to unify smog control efforts in the San Joaquin Valley moved forward with the hiring of a technical expert as consultant for the new organization. Mark Boese, a Stanislaus County pollution official, was named as deputy control officer for the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District. District Director Dave Crow said he plans to name other top managers for the agency soon.
