From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A Madera property owner is being accused of operating an illegal labor camp and violating 23 state housing laws. State officials have told Isidoro Castro that he has until Feb. 6 to fix the alleged problems at his rental houses. County regulators say they’ll also keep a close eye on Castro, who has been cited previously for renting illegal and unsafe housing. Castro says he is only trying to help poor farm workers who need a cheap place to live. He says he will wait for a written report from the state before taking any action.
