High Tides--Astronomical high tides are expected over the next three days. There will be a high tide of 7.1 feet today at 8:07 a.m., 7 feet Monday at 8:55 a.m. and 6.6 feet Tuesday at 9:44 a.m.
Certain birds are most easily found at Upper Newport Bay during astronomical high tides. These birds include American bitterns and three types of rails--clapper, Virginia and sora. Prime viewing time is from half an hour before each high tide to an hour after.
