D. J. Jackson of Antelope Valley College began the week as the leading scorer and rebounder in the Foothill Conference.
And he solidified his position in those categories Friday, scoring 41 points and grabbing 22 rebounds in a 102-98 conference victory at San Bernardino Valley.
Jackson hit 16 of 32 shots from the field and was two of seven from three-point range for the Marauders (11-10, 5-1 in conference play), who moved above the .500 mark for the first time this season.
With the score tied, 71-71, midway through the second half, Jason Grimes scored eight consecutive points for Antelope Valley. San Bernardino Valley (5-11, 2-3) never seriously threatened again.
Jackson followed Grimes’ offensive barrage with one of his own, scoring 13 of the Marauders’ next 15 points.
Grimes finished with 14 points, teammate Bucky Tucker added 11 and
Chris Walters had 11 points and 11 assists.
