The California Department of Transportation has announced plans to spend $850,000 to build a 12-foot-high sound wall along the south side of the Ventura Freeway between Balboa and White Oak boulevards in Encino.
Construction is expected to begin this spring and should be completed in nine months, Caltrans said.
Caltrans is gradually building walls in freeway areas with the highest sound levels. The walls are designed to cut freeway noise in adjacent neighborhoods by about 75%, Caltrans said.
