Clever guy, that Chuck D. To start the bullets flying, he’ll never have to pull the trigger (“Public Enemy Video Stirs Debate,” Jan. 10). He’s fomenting enough discontent out there to unleash the homicidal cravings of an army of close-to-the-edge malcontents. Didn’t two-thirds of MTV’s purported 10,000 callers say they support the video as a form of protest? Out of the 6,666, there’s bound to be at least one deranged Public Enemy disciple who’ll react to the power of suggestion. Shades of “The Manchurian Candidate”!
