U.S. Policy on Refugees
How ironic it is that the United States is getting ready to admit thousands of Tibetan refugees into this country (“Resettlement of Tibet Refugees in U.S. to Begin,” Jan. 1), while at the same time thousands of Haitians are being corralled in camps on Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, possibly to be sent back to Haiti.
The Haitians only want the same things the Tibetans and every other immigrant wanted when they came here: opportunity and freedom!
I am sick and tired of Haiti being treated as the bastard child of the Americas while this country bends over backward to help people in Europe and Asia. It is about time that the United States implements the same policy for all.
