The Castaic Lake Water Agency has appointed a Glendale water official to fill a vacant seat on the board.
Donald R. Froelich, water service administrator for Glendale since September, 1990, will replace Gil Callowhill, who died of a heart attack in November. Callowhill had served 14 years on the board.
Before joining Glendale city government, Froelich, a Valencia resident, had been branch chief for the Metropolitan Water District for 24 years beginning in 1966. A 21-year resident of the Santa Clarita Valley, Froelich was chosen by six of the 10 directors Wednesday night. There were 10 applicants for the vacant Division 3 seat.
Since Froelich was appointed in the middle of a four-year term, he will serve until the November election, when he can run for the remaining two years.
