1 Killed, 2 Wounded in Hilltop Shooting
A Pacoima teen-ager was killed and two companions were slightly injured early Monday in what appeared to be a gang-related shooting in Granada Hills, Los Angeles police said.
Martin L. Mondragon, 17, was pronounced dead in the parking lot of the Odyssey restaurant from gunshot wounds in the upper body, Lt. Al Durrer said.
Tonya Marie Pineda, 18, was grazed on the upper body, treated at the scene and released, Durrer said. Her brother-in-law, Daniel Pineda, 20, was struck by a bullet in the lower body, treated at a nearby hospital and released, Durrer said.
Mondragon and the Pinedas were observing the view from the restaurant’s hilltop site in the 15600 block of Odyssey Drive about 1 a.m. when three suspected gang members drove up and an argument broke out that led to the shooting, Durrer said.
