MOORPARK : Opening Festivities Planned for Park
- Share via
South Meadows Park, Moorpark’s first park with tennis courts, will open Saturday with a celebration featuring a performance by the Moorpark High School Band, puppet shows and other activities for children. The event will be held at the park, at Tierra Rejada Road and Mountain Trail Street, from noon to 3 p.m.
Hot dogs, popcorn and other refreshments will be sold, with proceeds to benefit the city’s Boys & Girls Club.
South Meadows, the city’s eighth park, will be the third to be located in the Mountain Meadows neighborhood.
In addition to having three tennis courts and a basketball court, the eight-acre park includes a playground, Director of Community Services Philip E. Newhouse said.
The state-of-the-art playground equipment is made entirely of steel, Newhouse said. It includes a double-wave slide, which is two side-by-side curved slides, and a tube slide.
