COLLEGE FOOTBALL BOWL REPORT : CITRUS : A Year to Remember, Cal Tries to Forget

Associated Press

There’s a saying in sports that you’re only as good as your last game, and California’s Golden Bears know what it means heading into today’s Citrus Bowl against Clemson at Orlando, Fla.

Cal was ranked sixth nationally until a 38-21 season-ending loss to Stanford.

“Everybody wants to ask about the Stanford game,” Cal quarterback Mike Pawlawski said. “I’m sick of hearing it. You can’t change the past any more than you can see the future.”

California (9-2) lost to second-ranked Washington, 24-17, at midseason, then to Stanford. The Bears are making their 11th bowl appearance, but their first on New Year’s Day in 33 years.
