Girlfriend to Be Tried in Man’s Death

Cindy Ann Oakley, a 29-year-old La Mesa woman charged with murder in the killing and dismemberment of her live-in boyfriend, waived her right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday and will go to trial in Superior Court.

The body of 30-year-old Charles Lee Beabout was discovered Nov. 3 in two separate locations along Interstate 15 near Bonsall. The victim had been shot in the head and various parts of his body had been wrapped in a sleeping bag and in a plastic trash bag.

Investigators said Oakley had been trying to break off the relationship with Beabout, but he apparently refused to leave the duplex they shared on Stanley Drive in La Mesa.
