Sailing
From Staff and Wire Reports
New Zealand’s challenger for the America’s Cup next year was launched, christened and sailed for the first time off San Diego.
The boat, designed by Bruce Farr and Russell Bowler, was built and transported under tight security. Its underbody and appendages were concealed by a security skirt until it was afloat. Despite the security, other contenders tried to get a better look at the boat from a restricted distance by using video cameras and long lenses.
