GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP
In other Costa Mesa girls’ tournament quarterfinal games:
Woodbridge 70, San Marcos 26--Woodbridge’s forwards all scored in double figures, led by Pryia Vasudev’s 14 points. Belinda Taub and Jenny Fenton each had 11 points. Vasudev led the Warriors (10-1) with 10 rebounds. Woodbridge meets Capistrano Valley in the semifinals at 6:20 tonight at Costa Mesa High School.
Capistrano Valley 64, Gresham (Ore.) Union 29--Forward Angie White led the second-ranked Cougars with 17 points, four rebounds and three assists. Teammate Katie Scott had 14 points, six rebounds and three steals as Capistrano Valley improved to 10-1.
Santa Margarita 56, Trabuco Hills 26--Tara Moss scored one more point than the entire Trabuco Hills team as the Eagles (7-4) won in the consolation round.
In nonleague games:
El Modena 53, Sunny Hills 44--Melizza Benitez scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Jamie Shine added 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead the host Vanguards past the Lancers. El Modena improved to 1-4.
Savanna 52, Sonora 47--Sara Works scored 15 points and had nine rebounds for Savanna (8-3). Teammate Wendy Castro scored 14 points and had four assists.
