SANTA PAULA : Ybarra Appointed Blanchard Principal
A former official of the Oxnard School District has been appointed principal of Blanchard Elementary School in Santa Paula, district officials said.
Barbara Cooke Ybarra, formerly coordinator of professional development at the Oxnard district, took over as principal at Blanchard about two weeks ago, officials said.
Ybarra, who received her doctorate in philosophy from UC Santa Barbara, is a former teacher who started and ran remedial reading programs. She has also provided training for administrators, teachers and instructional aides.
As Oxnard’s coordinator of special development, Ybarra conducted classroom observations, conferences and demonstration lessons based on education models at elementary schools throughout the Oxnard school district.
