Chula Vista 66, Southwest 58--Trailing by seven at halftime of the consolation final, Chula Vista scored the first 10 points in the second half and never looked back. After the Spartans (5-4) tied it, 36-36, early in the third quarter, Jerome Green made one of his three three-point baskets. Green, a junior, finished with 32 points and six rebounds. Teammate Alberto Marzan added 16 points and 10 rebounds. Felix Estrada had 16 points and 14 rebounds for Southwest (2-5). Dewange McBride and Tony Diaz added 13 apiece.

Lt. Mitchell Tournament

Torrey Pines 83, Trabuco Hills 67--Torrey Pines added to its two-point halftime lead with a 13-2 run to start the third quarter and went on to win the championship of the Lt. Mitchell Tournament at San Dieguito. Craig Brown, named the tournament’s most valuable player, keyed the run by scoring seven of his game-high 35 points. Brown, who made five three-point shots, was joined on the all-tournament team by Scot Pollard, who scored 18 points for No. 2 Torrey Pines (6-2). Corey Klinke (22 points) and Gavin Vanderputten (13) also made the post-tournament team for Trabuco Hills (7-3).

Bonanza 89, San Dieguito 73--Las Vegas Bonanza hit it big with Kaesh Easterwood scoring 31 points and Eric Long adding 29 to take third place. San Dieguito (4-4) was paced by Jeremy Meeks (15 points), Craig Vilhauer (11) and Ryan Mancuso (10).

Rancho Bernardo 50, Dana Hills 36--Rancho Bernardo turned a three-point first-quarter lead into a 27-12 rout by halftime en route to its fourth victory in eight games. Kirk Hipple, who was named to the all-tournament team, scored half (25) of the Broncos’ points and added 13 rebounds. Rancho Bernardo had 19 steals.

Escondido 60, San Pasqual 56--Escondido took advantage of 26 points from 6-7 forward Damian Cephas and 13 points from 6-2 forward Mike Frank as the Cougars rallied in the fourth quarter. Junior guard Ernie Silva had 16 points and senior guard David Durst 11 for San Pasqual, the defending Division II Section champion.

Fallbrook 57, RBV 44--Chris Miller scored a game-high 25 points for Fallbrook. Rancho Buena Vista was led by Evan Osmundson with 12 points.

Tournament of Champions

Brea-Olinda 56, Poway 43--Brea-Olinda, the fourth-ranked team in California, used 15 points from Nicole Erickson and 14 from Jody Anton to defeat Poway (5-2) and take fifth place in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions. Jamie Shadian (12 points) and Kara Milling (10 points) led Poway, which is ranked No. 7 in the state and No. 1 in San Diego County. Brea-Olinda improved to 11-1.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Dave Goebel Tournament

Gus Klammer scored two goals as San Dieguito routed defending tournament champion Sweetwater, 6-1, to advance to the championship match of the third annual Dave Goebel Tournament.

Nate Wagner had the lone goal in Torrey Pines’ 1-0 victory over Mira Mesa in the other semifinal.

Torrey Pines will meet San Dieguito in the championship today at 1 p.m. at Torrey Pines High School. The girls’ final--Torrey Pines vs. Carlsbad--will begin at 11 a.m.
