James Daniels and Tarlin Ray combined for 38 points to lead Harvard-Westlake High past Burbank, 84-76, Thursday in a first-round game of the La Canada tournament at La Canada High.
Daniels scored 21 points to lead Harvard (5-2), which used its pressure defense and improved shooting to overcome an 11-point first-half deficit.
Before the game, Harvard Coach Greg Hilliard said he was afraid his team was reeling from its emotional 110-103 overtime loss to Crespi on Tuesday.
“It took some getting behind to make the difference (Thursday),” Hilliard said.
Kendrick Lewis came off the bench to lead Burbank with 20 points and senior Peter Kim added 16.
Greg Peters scored 12 points for Harvard, which will face La Canada tonight at 8 in the semifinals of the eight-team tournament. Burbank will play El Rancho at 5 p.m..
