Twer Leads Woodbridge Past Esperanza

Senior forward Ethan Twer scored 24 points as Woodbridge defeated Esperanza, 63-54, in a championship second-round game of the Irvine World News boys’ basketball tournament at Woodbridge.
Senior guard Todd Loewe added 17 for Woodbridge, which trailed, 18-14, after a quarter but rallied in the second quarter to lead, 31-30, at the break. Woodbridge plays Irvine at Woodbridge in a semifinal-round game at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Edison plays Kennedy in the other championship semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Friday at University. The title game is at 7 p.m. Saturday at Christ College Irvine.
