SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Citing growing interest in country music, club operator Michael Zanetis says he plans to build a restaurant and night spot to cater to the cowboy-hatted set.
Zanetis, who runs Michael’s Supper Club in Dana Point, said Wednesday that he wants to begin construction in March on the Seahorse Saloon, a dance club to be built in the Plaza Del Obispo shopping center at Del Obispo Street and Camino Capistrano. The 400-capacity saloon and an adjoining 250-seat restaurant would open in November.
He said the club will feature live country dance bands five nights a week and that he will try to book one major country act a month with occasional departures into jazz, blues and rock. He also said he is raising money for the project, which he estimates will cost $2.5 million.
