Angels Get Outfielder John Morris
Outfielder John Morris and the Angels agreed Monday to a one-year contract worth approximately $200,000.
The Angels said they signed Morris because Max Venable, who became a free agent after the World Series, agreed to a one-year deal with the Chiba Lotte Marines of the Japan Pacific League.
Morris, 30, appeared in 80 games with the Philadelphia Phillies last season and hit .220 with one home run and six runs batted in. He has a .241 average in six major league seasons with seven homers and 60 RBIs.
Morris signed as a free agent with the Phillies before last season.
Venable hit .246 last season with three homers and 21 RBIs.
