Santa Anita is planning an expanded wagering format for the 1991-92 racing season, including additional daily doubles and daily triples each day, plus two quinellas, when the track opens its 94-day meeting Dec. 26.
“Racing fans want more exotic wagers than we have had in the past,” said Clifford C. Goodrich, president of Santa Anita. “We’ve taken their input and formulated a daily format we think will be well received.”
The exotics, which will be in addition to the traditional win, place and show wagering, will include $2 daily doubles on races 1-2, 5-6, and 8-9. Exactas with a $2 minimum bet will be offered on every race except the first, and $2 quinellas will be available on races 2 and 7.
The $3 minimum daily triple will go from one a day to two, placed on races 3-4-5 and 6-7-8.
Santa Anita will retain the $2 pick nine, which begins on the first race. The pick six, also a $2 minimum bet, will run from race 4 through race 9 and the $2 trifecta will be on the ninth race.
