WASHINGTON — President Bush and his wife, Barbara, are sending out 160,000 Christmas cards depicting a colorfully decorated tree in the family quarters of the White House.
The scene was painted by Czechoslovakian-born artist Kamil Kubik, an impressionistic painter of cityscapes and florals.
His painting, titled “The Family Tree, Upstairs at the White House,” depicts the Yellow Oval Room on the second floor of the presidential mansion.
The card’s message, in red script, reads: “The President and Mrs. Bush extend their warmest wishes that you and your loved ones will share a joyous Christmas and a peaceful new year.”
The Republican National Committee pays for the printing and mailing costs.
