PLATFORM : Simply Overbuilt

I think this city is going to cease to function before long because of downtown congestion. There is improper planning. The freeways are far too overloaded and we have no comprehensive transit system. The city lets developers build huge office buildings before they deal with our tremendous traffic problems and shortage of downtown housing.
I’ve looked at the environmental-impact reports these developers submit, and I don’t believe what I see. Our air quality is just being destroyed because of all of the increased commuting these new buildings produce. There’s just no way we are going to have clean air when a new building dumps another 5,000 or 7,000 more cars on the roads.
People are already seeing the problem develop with the high office vacancy rate here. Businesses are reluctant to locate downtown and deal with that kind of environment. We are simply overbuilt with offices that displaced housing.
