Tenneco to Trim 4,000 Jobs: Tenneco Inc. said it will eliminate 4,000 jobs worldwide at its JI Case farm and construction equipment unit, where 5,000 positions have already been trimmed in the past year. The announcement is part of the conglomerate’s program to reduce its heavy debt and improve financial results. A severe recession in the construction equipment market and a declines in the agricultural equipment market prompted the layoffs. About half the cuts at Case will be in North America and half in Europe. The firm did not say how many employees will be affected at specific locations.
