OUTLOOK
Defense pushed Fullerton into second place last season, and that same pressure man-to-man might help the Indians unseat defending league champion La Habra. Fullerton returns four of five starters including the point guard, Gomez, who averaged 15 points per game and earned both first-team all-league and team most valuable player honors. Also back are Misa, a second-team all-league selection who averaged 10 points per game, and St. John, the team’s leading rebounder who averaged nine rebounds. Another key returner is McLane, a 5-foot-10 forward who returns to Fullerton after a one-year stay at Valencia High. McLane started as a sophomore at Fullerton, and is being recruited by Nevada Las Vegas, Vrolyk said. Also bolstering the front line is Hoerner, a 6-0 freshman who might crack the starting lineup. “It is definitely our goal to win league this year,†Vrolyk said. “It will be closer than in years past, but La Habra is still the favorite. La Habra knows how to win; our seniors have never won (the league title).â€
