OXNARD : Man Says 2 Officers Beat Him While He Was Scavenging Cans
An Oxnard man who said he was beaten by two police officers while scavenging aluminum cans has filed a brutality claim against the city of Oxnard.
Frank Montes said the officers “beat him severely, breaking his arm and causing other injuries from which (Montes) still suffers,†according to his attorney, Bill Jarrico of Ojai.
The police officers were angry at Montes for running from them when first approached, Jarrico said.
He said his client ran because he was afraid of being mistreated or improperly searched.
City officials could not be reached for comment.
