TRUE BELIEVERS

What disturbs me about Israel’s settlements in the occupied territories is that the same genocidal policies that our American forefathers espoused (“our land right or wrong”) are being used on the Palestinians who reside in the West Bank. The parallels are uncanny. What we call reservations the Israelis call refugee camps. While we considered Native Americans to be childlike savages, the Israelis in general believe Palestinians to be subhuman. In both situations, a smaller, poorly armed populace is being annihilated by a large, superbly armed force. And as America’s forefathers believed their right to the land was God-given, Israelis believe that as the chosen people they are entitled to the land.
