Growth Initiative

I signed the PLAN! initiative because I am troubled by what I have seen happen to this city over the last 10 years. I don’t feel as safe on the freeway or in my home as I once did. Many of the most beautiful parts of the city have been ruined by poorly built condominiums.
The PLAN! initiative offers common sense solutions to many of these problems. For example, it requires that the ratio of police officers to population remain above a certain level, thus preventing growth from overburdening the police department.
I am therefore upset that a few council members, including my own, Tom Behr, don’t want to put the initiative on the ballot. I would like to remind them that thousands of people signed the initiative, and that the council should do everything in its power to let us vote on it.
