Ventura 43, Arcadia 10--Senior wideout Elan Walshe had five receptions for 190 yards and two touchdowns as the host Cougars routed Arcadia.
Walshe had three catches measuring more than 50 yards from quarterback Trevor Rumsey, including touchdown receptions of 54 and 57 yards. Rumsey completed six of 11 passes for 225 yards.
Ventura (9-2) scored touchdowns on four of its five possessions in the first half to take a 28-10 lead at intermission.
Sophomore Jake Kochel filled in for Derek Swafford, the Cougars’ leading rusher who was sidelined because of flu, and gained 100 yards in 19 carries. Kochel also scored two touchdowns.
Ventura, which will play Irvine, outgained Arcadia in total yards, 420 to 181.
