Bill Seeks to Give Priority to Pension Agency: The Bush Administration proposed legislation intended to give priority standing to the federal government when it tries to protect employee pensions in bankruptcy proceedings. The measure is being introduced in the House by Rep. Rod Chandler (R-Wash.) on behalf of the Administration. It would amend bankruptcy codes to improve the standing of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. when it goes to court seeking to recover pension funds from companies that file for bankruptcy protection.
