PREP NOTES

An unfortunate thing happened to the Edison girls’ tennis team on their way to a Southern Section Division 4-A first-round playoff match in San Marino last Thursday. They never got there.
The two vans carrying the girls to the match--one of them driven by Coach Dean Olson--took off for San Marino, a community adjacent to Pasadena, but ended up near Cabazon in Riverside County.
“He (Olson) just misread the directions and got lost,” Edison girls’ Athletic Director Bruce Belcher said. “Somehow something got messed up. By the time they figured it out it was too late to start the match. The San Marino coach and athletic director were very accommodating.”
But the San Marino players were not. In the makeup match Monday, the Titans defeated Edison, 11-7.
