Covina : Fee to Be Added to Trash Bill

Beginning Jan. 1, residents’ monthly trash collection bills will include a service fee to help fund waste reduction and recycling programs mandated by state law.
Covina Disposal will assess owners of single-family residences $1.21 per month, increasing their payments from $11.34 to $12.55.
Other trash collectors, who pick up the larger bins for residences and businesses, will charge 62 cents per cubic yard. These customers’ bills will increase from 10% and 24%.
City officials predict that the fees will generate about $280,000 for the rest of the 1991-92 fiscal year for services such as curbside recycling.
The City Council established the rates Tuesday.
