‘Flower’ Power: Diego Rivera’s 1942 painting, “Flower Seller,” was sold for $2.97 million Tuesday night at Christie’s New York, setting an auction record for Latin American art. “Flower Seller” surpassed the record $2.42 million paid on Monday night at Sotheby’s for Jose Maria Velasco’s 1888 landscape “Valle de Mexico.” The previous record for Latin American art was $1.65 million, set last spring for Frida Kahlo’s “Self-Portrait With Loose Hair.”
