BOX CANYON : Overturned Car Starts Brush Fire
A car that overturned on Box Canyon Road in east Ventura County started a brush fire Friday night, authorities said.
The fire, which burned about half an acre near Studio Road, started at about 8:10 p.m. and was contained about 8:40 p.m., said Annie Ironside, Ventura County Fire Department dispatcher.
The car was very badly burned, and no victims were immediately found Friday night, said Ray Sandoval, dispatcher for the California Highway Patrol.
“It’s pretty well toasted,†Sandoval said. “It could have been an Oldsmobile. We don’t know if it was being driven, or if it was pushed over on purpose, or anything.â€
Ironside said the car was not reported stolen and was registered to a Pacoima resident.
