COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Orange Coast Moves to Second in Volleyball
The Orange Coast College women’s volleyball team defeated Riverside in four games Wednesday to take sole possession of second place in the Orange Empire Conference.
Reiko Matsumoto and Stacy Bekemeyer each had 13 kills for the Pirates (10-3, 5-1), who won, 13-15, 15-5, 15-3, 15-12. Third-place Riverside is 9-2 and 4-2.
In other Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball:
Golden West 3, Saddleback 0--Tracy Schriber had 11 kills as the Rustlers (13-0, 6-0) remained undefeated.
Fullerton 3, Rancho Santiago 1--Kim Burfening had 18 kills for host Rancho Santiago (1-11, 0-6). Fullerton improved to 7-6, 2-4, with the 3-15, 15-4, 15-10, 15-9 victory.
In Western State Conference wrestling:
Cypress 39, Rio Hondo 8--Justin Roos, Doug Cooper and Josh Gale each recorded pins as the Chargers (2-1, 2-0) won eight of 10 matches at Cypress College.
