Hall of Fame Inductions Are Tonight
Nine new members of the Orange County Sports Hall of Fame will be inducted tonight during a banquet at the Disneyland Hotel, where Merlin Olsen will serve as master of ceremonies.
Bobby Knopp, Bertha Ragan Tickey, Dwight Stones, Bruce Penhall, Shirley Topley, Alex Omalev, Bill Cook, Homer Beatty and Pat McInally will be enshrined.
Five others will be recognized with special achievement awards. Will Kern and Mario Dalessi will receive the Good Guys award, Bob Clark the Ralph Clark Distinguished Citizen award, Becki McCafferty the Woody Dietch Courage award, and Tom Liegler the Lifetime Achievement award.
With the induction, membership in the Orange County Sports Hall of Fame will grow to 57.
Class of 1981--Mickey Flynn, Jim Fregosi, John Huarte, Walter Johnson, Fred Kelly, Donn Moomaw, Clare Van Hoorebeke, George Yardley.
Class of 1982--Shirley Babashoff, Dan Gurney, Bob Hamblin, Brig Owens, Cathy Rigby, Arky Vaughan, Eddie West.
Class of 1983--Del Crandall, Gavvy Cravath, Brian Goodell, David Meyers, Blaine Nye, Carlos Palomino.
Class of 1984--Bruce Furniss, Sammy Lee, Bob Webster.
Class of 1985--Hobie Alter, Randy Jones, Gerry (Moon) Mullins, Evelyn Furtsch Ojeda.
Class of 1986--Isaac Curtis, Alex Maese, Jim Musick, Wendell Pickens.
Class of 1987--Pat McCormick, Ann Meyers, Cap Sheue, Jack Youngblood.
Class of 1988--Rod Carew, Andy Messersmith, Eddie Morris, Carol Spanks.
Class of 1989--Bobby Grich, Dennis Harrah, Reggie Jackson, John Ward.
Class of 1990--Don Baylor, Paul Cleary, Nolan Cromwell, Steve Timmons.
Class of 1991--Homer Beatty, Bill Cook, Bobby Knoop, Pat McInally, Alex Omalev, Bruce Penhall, Dwight Stones, Bertha Ragan Tickey, Shirley Topley.
