From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The Polish Sejm (lower house) ordered prosecutors to investigate scores of suspected political murders by Communist police in the 1980s. It acted after a special commission reported on a two-year investigation into 122 deaths between 1981 and 1988 that Poland’s former Communist authorities never explained and the courts never clarified. The investigations will be the broadest into the alleged criminal activities by the Communist security forces and secret police undertaken since Solidarity assumed control of the government in 1989.
