ANAHEIM : Hearing to Focus on Future Development

A public hearing on long-range improvements planned for the Disneyland and Convention Center area is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall.

The comments at the hearing will become part of the environmental impact report the city is beginning to prepare as it looks at further development in the area. Residents and local business leaders will be asked to discuss concerns about the area and any development that could occur there, said Mary McCloskey, the city’s deputy planning director.

One potential development is the proposed expansion of Disneyland and the building of an adjoining second amusement park.

“The city isn’t required to have this hearing, but we want to get the public’s input at the beginning of the process instead of at the end,†McCloskey said. “We won’t have any answers at the hearing, but they can ask us to look at the traffic in the area or the air quality or anything else about the environment in the area that concerns them.â€

McCloskey said a draft of the environmental impact study will be completed and distributed in about six months, after which public input will again be sought. She said it will be some time before final decisions are made.

City Hall is at 200 S. Anaheim St.
