A total of 98 striking union members were arrested Saturday night after they blocked traffic on the Las Vegas Strip for more than an hour to protest stalled contract talks with the Frontier Hotel.

Picketers left their position outside the Frontier and moved into the street about 6 p.m. Union members blocked the southbound lanes with three pickup trucks to protect demonstrators who sat down in the roadway.

The demonstrators offered no resistance as police escorted them to buses and paddy wagons nearby.

The Frontier was struck a week ago by unions representing culinary workers, bartenders, Teamsters and Operating Engineers.

About 500 members of the four unions have been working the past two years without a contract.
