Terrence Mahon, the 1987 Times Orange County cross-country runner of the year while at La Habra High School, led Villanova to its first cross-country victory since 1986 Saturday at the Fordham Invitational in the Bronx, N.Y.
Mahon, a junior who transferred from Oregon last year, covered the eight-kilometer course in 25 minutes 10 seconds. Villanova was helped by two other former Southern California prep standouts: freshmen Louie Quintana of Arroyo Grande (third) and Dave Hartman of Canyon Country Canyon (fourth).
