N. Korea Leader May OK Talks With South

SEOUL — North Korean President Kim Il Sung is prepared for the first time to talk to South Korean President Roh Tae Woo, South Korea’s domestic Yonhap news agency said Wednesday.
“President Kim Il Sung hopes to hold a summit . . . although the time cannot be released at the moment,” Yonhap quoted North Korea’s vice foreign minister, Kang Sok Ju, as telling reporters in New York. Kang was in New York for the U.N. General Assembly session, which has admitted both Koreas as members.
“Our president has on many occasions expressed willingness to meet Kim Il Sung, but so far we haven’t received any official contacts from North Korea,” said the assistant minister for foreign affairs, Chang Man Soon.
Kang said the issue would be discussed when North Korean Foreign Minister Kim Young Nam arrives Sept. 27 in New York.
