SANTA ANA — Ten days after losing the contract to supply the snack bars of Target Stores in Southern California, Provena Foods Inc. said Tuesday that it will close its Santa Ana warehouse and move its company headquarters to Chino.
Many of the 14 employees will be offered jobs by Metropolitan Concessions Industries, according to Provena’s chairman and founder, Jim Bolton. Metropolitan, headquartered in the City of Industry, has purchased some of the assets of Provena’s Sav-On Foods division.
The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Bolton said Provena will close its 24,000-square-foot Santa Ana warehouse on Sept. 30. The building will be put up for sale.
Provena lost 27 of the Target snack bars to Rykoff-Sexton Inc. in the spring, Bolton said, and another 45 stores this month.
