A Palmdale man was fatally stabbed early Monday after what authorities described as a drug deal gone sour.

Tony Moore, 32, died about 11 a.m. at Palmdale Hospital Medical Center, 11 hours after sheriff’s deputies found him unconscious on the ground at Fifth Street East and Avenue Q-3, sheriff’s spokesman George Ducoulombier said. Moore had been stabbed once in the abdomen.

Deputies arrested Jose Ivan Colon of Palmdale shortly after 2:30 p.m. near the scene of the slaying as he drove with his brother and stepsister, Ducoulombier said. The brother and stepsister were questioned but then released.

Ducoulombier said Colon, 27, gave Moore $10 to purchase some crack cocaine. When Moore returned empty-handed, Colon allegedly demanded his money back and then stabbed the man when he did not comply, Ducoulombier said.

He added that it was not clear whether either man had any previous history of drug-related offenses.
