Beazer, Hanson Agree to Merge: Construction company Beazer PLC, hurt by the recession and $1.73 billion in debt, has agreed to be acquired by the Hanson PLC conglomerate for the equivalent of $608 million, the companies announced in London. Executives said the combination will place the companies in a better position to develop their construction businesses when the economy improves. Beazer owns businesses in 30 U.S. states.
