Nation IN BRIEF : CONNECTICUT : Yale Women Barred From Secret Society
Conservative columnist William F. Buckley and several other alumni members of Skull and Bones, a secret society at Yale University, obtained a court order temporarily blocking the all-male club from admitting women. Six women and nine men from the class of 1992 were to be initiated but the ceremony was called off as a result of the temporary restraining order issued by Superior Court Judge Donald Celotto in New Haven, Conn. A hearing has been set for Sept. 30. The 159-year-old association is the oldest and most prestigious of the secret societies at Yale, and counts President Bush among its members.
