L.A. County Fair: Friday-Sept. 29
* Carnival rides and games, entertainment (the Turtles, Three Dog Night, El Chicano, The Association, Jan & Dean), rodeo, monster trucks, exhibits, competitions (from photography to student craft projects), livestock shows, flying circus. $8; seniors $4 weekdays, $6 weekends; children 6-12, $4. Sea Festival: Saturday-Sunday
* The Dana Point Sea Festival gets under way with booths (Coast Guard, Boy Scouts and other groups), a parade of vessels off Dana Point, entertainment and a welcome home for the tallship Pilgrim (replica of 1834 ship). Visitors can board the Pilgrim from 1-5 p.m. Saturday; after 10 a.m. Sunday. At noon, skits, storytelling, nautical skill demonstrations.
