BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Pirates Get Buechele From Rangers

The Pirates, hoping to solidify their infield for the postseason, acquired Texas third baseman Steve Buechele in a three-player trade for minor league pitcher Kurt Miller and a player to be named. Buechele was to become a free agent after the season.
The Pirates have been playing rookie John Wehner, batting .340 and fielding well, at third base but wanted to add a veteran.
