For Dentist, DK XKV8R License Plate Is a RL WINR
Dr. Randall Kam, an Orange dentist, was named winner of a nationwide contest to find the most creative work-related personalized license plate in the United States.
Kam’s plate, which reads DK XKV8R (decay excavator), was selected from among more than700 entries from 44 states. The finalists included IFXUHD (I fix you head) by a Norfolk, Va., psychiatrist; DRT QWN (dirt queen) from a Duvall, Wash., landscape architect, and BRTQLIT (be articulate) from a Burlingame, Calif., speech therapist.
The contest was sponsored by the Eagle One car-care product company. Kam won a car compact disc player and $500 in car-care products.
The Western Fairs Assn. has presented a Blue Ribbon Award to Orange Coast College for its sponsorship of student vocational programs in conjunction with the Youth Expo at the Orange County Fair.
Registered nurse Barbara A. Bloom, 28, a Peace Corps volunteer, has returned home to Fullerton after serving as a nurse in the village of Arroyo Terere, Paraguay, since February, 1990. Bloom has a degree in nursing from Cal State Fullerton. In Paraguay, she worked with mothers and children to promote health in the community.
The Shortstop Juvenile Diversion Program, which is based in Irvine, announced that it has received a Sustained Superior Achievement Award from the California Youth Authority and a Civic Community Service Award from Disneyland.
The program is a project of the Orange County Bar Assn. It focuses on working with first-time juvenile offenders and their families to prevent further problems.
Marianna Reza of Orange has been appointed principal of Hermosa Drive Elementary School in the Fullerton School District. Reza is a former project specialist and teacher for the Placentia-Yorba Linda School District. She has a master’s in education from United States International University and a bachelor’s in history from Cal State Fullerton.
Public relations writer and consultant Dorothy Jean of Costa Mesa has received the designation of Seniors’ Housing Marketing Specialist from the National Council on Seniors’ Housing and the National Assn. of Home Builders. Jean has been involved with public relations and business development for 20 years. She is a member of the Southern California Seniors Housing Council, an affiliate of the Building Industries Assn.
George Beloz, Fullerton College affirmative action officer, has been elected to the Orange County chapter of the March of Dimes board of directors.
After three decades of police work, Fullerton Police Capt. Ron Kaczor will retire Friday. Kaczor, who lives in Buena Park, said his career “has been a satisfying one.†He and his wife, Ella, plan to travel the country in their motor home.
