You have to admire a business executive who leaves a good taste in your mouth when he cuts your throat. Master of the craft is President Bush. His pattern, or patter, moistens the eyeballs: “I am deeply concerned about (unemployment; education; the homeless; AIDS; pollution; whatever-in-hell concerns you), but unfortunately, and you can be sure it tears my heart out to say this, the proposed congressional measure is not an effective response to existing domestic conditions.”
