‘Merry Widow’ Cast; Program Changes Told

The National Ballet of Canada has announced casting for “The Merry Widow” Oct. 11 through 13 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa.
In addition, James Kudelka’s new “Musings” will replace “Paquita” on the company’s mixed-repertory programs, Oct. 8 and 9. “Musings,” set to Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, received its premiere in June in Toronto.
In “The Merry Widow,” the roles of Hanna and Danilo will be danced by Karen Kain and Rex Harrington, respectively, on Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. Martine Lamy and Gregory Osborne will take over the roles on Oct. 11 and 13 at 8 p.m.; Gizella Witkowsky and Serge Lavoie, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m.
The roles of Valencienne and Camille will be danced by Margaret Illmann and Raymond Smith on Oct. 10; Chan Hon Goh and Jeremy Ransom, Oct. 11 and 13; Sarah Green and Pierre Quinn, Oct. 12, matinee; and Caroline Richardson and Peter Ottmann, Oct. 12, 8 p.m.
